Michigan Clean Water Corps - Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program
Each year a portion of Rennie Lake Association member dues goes toward enrolling Rennie Lake in the Michigan Clean Water Corps - Cooperative Lakes Monitoring Program (MiCorps-CLMP) for water quality and lake habitat monitoring and assessment. Rennie Lake has been enrolled since 2015 and has a good start building a long-term data base for water quality status and trends assessment. The RLA Water Quality Committee will continue annual monitoring under the MiCorps-CLMP because it a key part of the RLA's mission. Go to the MiCorps-CLMP website (https://micorps.net/) for more information about the program.
The lake monitoring work is performed by dedicated volunteers. They sample the following data from our lake:
- Secchi Disk Transparency
- Total Phosphorus
- Chlorophyll
- Dissolved Oxygen and Temperature
- Exotic Aquatic Plant (Invasive Species) Watch Survey
- Lake-wide Aquatic Plant Community Survey
- Score the Shore – Lake Shoreline Habitat Survey
Go to the MiCorps Data Exchange (https://data.micorps.net/view/lake/) for the water quality data collected for Rennie Lake and other lakes enrolled in the MiCorps-CLMP.
Water Quality Reports
Note: There was no 2020 report due loss of State funding. RLA volunteers continued to monitor water clarity, total phosphorus and chlorophyll-a in 2020.
